Given the following mish-mash, just a bunch of discs architecture:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/tank1 ext4 defaults 0 0
/dev/sda2 /mnt/tank2 ext4 defaults 0 0
/dev/sda3 /mnt/tank3 ext4 defaults 0 0
I wanted to export the contents of these drives as a single endpoint under a samba share.
My solution was to unify the filesystems using aufs.
none /mnt/tank aufs br:/mnt/tank1=ro:/mnt/tank2=ro:/mnt/tank3=ro 0 0
The directory structure is then abstracted into a single virtual filesystem which can be plonked onto the network
